Welcome to the first email of the Creator Dispatch 🥳
For this inaugural email, I wanted to highlight the importance of taking risks.
I know, I know. It's easier said than done. But I wouldn't have started my YouTube channel if I hadn't quit my job and realized that being a Data Analyst in Marketing wasn't for me anymore. Sometimes, we need a push or to be at the edge of the cliff to realize what it is we truly want to do.
Risk-taking often comes with a certain element of self-doubt and fear: fear of the unknown, fear of failure, and so on. It is also uncomfortable; we tend to feel more secure in familiar situations where we have more control over the outcome.
But discomfort is necessary. I believe that beyond this fear and self-doubt lies growth.
There is one key ingredient that makes an individual grow—discomfort. If you feel discomfort, regardless of the outcome, it’s a valuable experience. If you remain in a constant state of comfort and don’t feel challenged, then it’s not really propelling you forward. It may make you feel good and at ease, but it’s not truly valuable.
So, even if you fail or don’t reach the heights you want, it’s still better than never trying. You’ll come out of the experience stronger, smarter, and ready to take another step into the unknown.
Discomfort can mean different things to each of us. For me, it meant quitting my job. For you, it might mean starting your YouTube channel on the side, taking on another job, or finally approaching people on the street for your videos.
Let this email be a reminder that challenges are opportunities to grow. So, start the YouTube channel you've always dreamt about, or create the coffee brand you've always wanted and talked about in your videos.
I’d love to know your thoughts. What risks do you want to take but are too scared to, and why? I’ll make a note to touch upon them in the future!
And now, here are some simple reminders I've learned over the past few months about content creation:
Perfectionism is your worst enemy. You must prioritize getting better with each piece of content rather than spending weeks trying to create one perfect video (if such a thing even exists).
Don’t create content you don’t enjoy consuming yourself. While you can still achieve great success by doing so, you won’t enjoy the process as much. Why create another unfulfilling full-time job for yourself?
Systems are your next best friend, even if you hate them now. Going with the flow can take you only so far, but when it comes to adding efficiency to your editing process or knowing what to film and what shots to take, you can’t just keep it all in your head. There is a place for spontaneity, but it’s definitely about finding a balance. We’ll explore this more in future emails.
Thanks for reading! Enjoy your week! ✌🏼✨

🎵 Music is an essential part of storytelling. It helps set the tone in your videos, convey emotions, and highlight specific moments. I've been using Epidemic Sound for all of my videos, just like many top creators such as Life of Riza and ur mom ashley. It boasts a vast library, curated picks, and a robust recommendation system
🛠️ Tool: 10of10 — a helpful tool not only for previewing your thumbnails but also for analyzing video performance. It allows you to see which videos performed the best versus the worst (see example below). This feature applies not only to your videos but also to any other channel on YouTube, meaning you can see which ideas, titles, and thumbnails worked best for your competitors.
🔍 Resource: Struggling with hooks? Look no further! I discovered this amazing 11-minute video by Aprilynne Alter, and I return to it every time I am writing or editing a hook. It's packed with invaluable knowledge and it's completely free.
Great piece. The fear of failure is enough to make most dreams disappear.
